Making a difference in our communities through leadership development is one of our key focus areas at Comcast NBCUniversal, and is a core value to many of our employees across New Mexico. As National Mentoring Month is underway, we want to highlight one of our employees who understands the impact a mentor can have on someone’s life.
Kyle Biederwolf, External Affairs Manager at Comcast, has been a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central New Mexico (BBBSCNM)’s Mentor 2.0 program for two years, and he says that it has changed his life.
High school students in New Mexico sometimes need a mentor in their life, and through BBBSCNM, I am able to make a positive impact on Mario’s life. Whether we’re creating plans about how to focus more on school or how to pursue higher education after graduation, or just playing games and catching up, each time I interact with Mario is extremely fulfilling.”
For more than a decade, employee “Bigs” across New Mexico have been helping to make a difference in the lives of their “Littles” – nationally more than 1,200 Comcast employees have participated in the program since it launched. And currently, there are more than 300 matches throughout 14 Comcast offices nationwide.
BBBSCNM works to inspire, ignite, and empower potential by matching young people with our employees through a variety of different mentoring programs. These matches are monitored and supported to ensure enduring, positive, and meaningful relationships. This creates a ripple effect across the lives of the children served, their families, the mentor, and generations to follow.
